I don’t like (south) corean movies. The worst movie I have ever seen is the coran “3-Iron” by Kim Ki-duk, followed by “Spring, Smmer, Fall, Winter… and Spring” of the same director. Boring probably is the best adjective that I can give to some of the hours more wasted of my life. But , as I was forced to note, I have to admit that I’m quite ignorant in this field. I almost never watch movies, I’m not expert. So I have decided to improve my knwoledge, and to share it on the web. Let me try to talk a little bit about movies. Today I had time to watch a movie, an old italian one, “Scusate il ritardo” (“Sorry for the delayk“, in english), by Massimo Troisi (1983).

Here’s a little dialogue beween the main characters, Vincenzo (Massimo Troisi) and Anna (Giuliana De Sio).
I know perfectly that I’ve choosen one of the most difficult movie to explain to foreign people. If you’re not italian, it’s almost impossible to enjoy perfectly this plot. It’s a typical italian comedy, and most of the dialogues are in napoletan dialect, so even for me it was really hard do understand.
It’s the story of this young unemployed, Vincenzo, dealing with his friend, his family, and his girlfriend, Anna. It’s a sad character, Vincenzo, typical of Troisi’s characters. He’s not the preferred son of his mother, his brother is richer and famous, his friend is almost crazy since he’s been dropped by the girlfriend, and everyone is complaining with him.
Vincenzo, under the beautiful scenario of a typical italian city of the 80′s (Naples), try to resist, producing beautiful talks, always helped by a strong (italian) use of the hands, underlining all his sentences.
In a comment on Imdb, someone has written that this movie gives “many hints of the true Neapolitan essence”, and probably I agree.
Unfortunatly I think there are no english version or english subtitle for this movie. The title means “Sorry for the delay”
The dialogues are fantastic (5/5), and Troisi is one of the best italian actors ever (5/5). The plot is funny, well written, nothing of really amazing (we’re talking of an simple commedy, not of a kolossal), so it’s satisfying (4/5). The final mark is not a mathematical average by a personal feeling: 4.2/5.

come tu stesso ammetti non sei esperto ne appassionato di cinema…
evita allora di criticare i film di kim ki duk
e magari guardali di nuovo, rilassato, senza fretta, senza pensare nel tempo che passa..
estate,autunno… ha una fotografia che da sola merita vederlo..
poi da qundo ti piace troisi?
un film proprio brutto (+ che brutto é troppo triste,inutilmente triste) che ho visto ultimamente é “la tomba per le lucciole”
